Army officer opens fire at Fort Hood, killing 12, wounding 31 others

The Advocate: An Army officer opened fire Thursday with two handguns at the Fort Hood military base in an attack that left 12 people dead and 31 wounded, according to the Associated Press.
A law enforcement official identified the shooting suspect as Army Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan.
KATC: According to the Louisiana National Guard, there are some advance soldiers from the 225th Engineer Brigade, a group based in Pineville, who are in Fort Hood.
Associated Press via nola.com: At Fort Polk in west-central Louisiana, officials said they and colleagues at other Army posts are "closely monitoring" events at Fort Hood.
